OFF GRID SOLAR KITS
Off grid solar kits come with everything you need to harvest, store, and use energy that comes directly from the sun. These kits are made up of solar panels, charge controllers, batteries, and an inverter. They come with all of the cables and wires, and they are a lot of fun to set up. Depending on where you are, and your energy consumption, these kits can enable you to live completely off grid.
ALL IN ONE SOLAR GENERATORS
These generators make everything easy. They produce and store less energy than the complete off grid solar kits, but they are very well built and are essentially plug in play. You can run 12V or 120V directly from the unit. These solar generator units are gangable (add more that one to a system), so you do have the option of going completely off grid using these units.
SMALL SOLAR SETUPS
Small solar setups work great for charging smaller items like laptops and cell phones. Set one up in your cabin or camper van to run LED lighting from, and have the option to charge your small devices. These kits make great gifts!
Wind turbines are the perfect supplement to an off grid solar system. Winds are stronger in winter and at night, and that is when your solar system is weakest. Make sure you live in an area with consistent laminar winds before you consider a wind turbine.
TINY WOOD STOVES
Tiny wood stoves are becoming very popular in the tiny house, and marine markets. These tiny wood stoves are made beautifully and produce plenty of heat to make your small home warm and cozy. Make sure you look at the dimensions, so you're not surprised at how small these units are. These stoves all come with a 3" flue pipe or less, so don't plan on using conventional flue pipe here!
SMALL WOOD STOVES
Small wood stoves produce more heat than tiny wood stoves, and are just as beautiful. Wood stoves have the added benefit of removing moisture within your small home which is very important. Look at our BTU chart to compare heat output between the stoves!
Propane heaters are an excellent choice to heat your tiny house or micro home. They provide a nice atmosphere in your house as you can still see the flame, and are much less work than running a tiny wood stove. These heaters do produce moisture, so make sure you have a method to remove that excess moisture, because it can be a problem. Having a propane heater on top of a wood stove is the perfect combination to heat your tiny house.
POTABLE WATER TANKS
If you don't have a well or access to town plumbing, you're going to need somewhere to store your water. These tanks are made from seamless FDA-approved polyethylene, making them safe for drinking water. These tanks are great for tiny house builders, because you have the option to add whatever size fitting you need in the location of your choice.
If you're running your water system from a water tank, you're going to need a water pump to provide pressure throughout your house. These small water pumps will do the job; they come in both 12V or 120V, so you can match them to your energy system.
WATER HEATERS | GREY WATER
A water heater is a must have to get through cold winters. These heaters are the most popular in the tiny house community as they work great, and you can hide them in your plans, so they are out of the way.
PROPANE RANGE OVENS
Just because you're thinking about building tiny doesn't mean you can't host a thanksgiving dinner. If cooking a turkey or baking is a must for you, consider these off grid gas stoves. They are very well made, and small enough you can tuck them away in your small kitchen.
If having an oven isn't essential in your small house, these propane cooktops will be perfect for cooking. They are made in a variety of sizes, and meant to be placed on you countertop.
TWO/THREE WAY FRIDGES
Two way fridges can run off of 110V or propane, whereas three way fridges have the ability to run off of 12V, 110V, or propane. These fridges were built with off grid in mind; there energy consumption is very low compared to fridges you buy off the shelf.
12V OR 24V DC FRIDGES
The fridges are built for living off the grid, and are meant to be run from a battery bank that supplies either 12V or 24V current. Similar to the two and three way fridges, these fridges were manufactured with energy consumption being a top priority.
OFF GRID FREEZERS
If you need a freezer for your tiny abode, these freezers are an excellent choice as they come in a variety of different sizes, and you can run them off of 12V, 110V, or propane.
TINY HOUSE LAUNDRY
A drawback in the tiny living community is doing your laundry. Nobody, especially people who want to live off the grid, wants to hang out in a laundromat. These small machines are the perfect solution. They require very little energy, and do a great job. If you're looking for a conventional machine, consider a ventless washer dryer combo unit.
LOW PROFILE LED LIGHTING
All lighting these days should be LED due to the breakthroughs in efficiency. The factor that sets these lights apart from normal LED lights is their ability to be installed with virtually no clearance. These LED lights come in a variety of sizes, and come with a well made driver box that meets code in the United States.
